Salisbury Zoo Earth Day and Zoo Stampede Saturday, April 25

Zoo insideThe Salisbury Zoo will hold its annual Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 25, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. This event is free to the public and promotes an appreciation for nature and an understanding of the environment. Delmarva Power will be giving out American Plum trees while supplies last. There is fun for all ages with educational, zookeeper talks, recycled craft activity, face painting, food and over 20 earth friendly exhibiting organizations; Chesapeake AAZK Chapter, Lower Shore Herb Society, National Aquarium Marine Animal Rescue MARP, Assateague Coastal Trust- Coast Kids, Lower Shore Herb Society, Nanticoke Watershed Alliance, Worcester & Wicomico County Health Dept, Wicomico Humane Society, Chincoteague Bay Field Station, LERC, Wicomico County Solid Waste, City of Salisbury Recycling and more will be exhibiting. Recycle your old electronics in the Zoo parking lot. Special Earth Day t-shirts will be on sale.

10:30am – 11:15am               Race Awards (Zoo Stage)

11:15 am-noon                      Ted Nichols Drum Circle (Zoo Stage)

1pm-3pm                               Music by Audio Graffiti (Zoo Stage)

1pm-3pm                               Children’s Music by Mr. Don (Holly Circle)

3pm                                        Butterfly Garden Raffle (Zoo Stage area)

 

Zoo Stampede 5k Run/Walk

The Zoo will also hold its annual Zoo Stampede on April 25 at 9:00 a.m. The Zoo Stampede, sponsored by Vernon Powell Shoes, is a 5K Run-Walk benefiting the Salisbury Zoo. Registration is $20.00 in advance and $25.00 the morning of the race. Runners can pre-register by visiting Vernon Powell Shoes or by visiting the Zoo’s website at www.salisburyzoo.org for an application. Runners can also register at the Zoo the morning of the race starting at 7:30 a.m. Tech shirts will be given to the first 150 runners that register.
