Huk Performance Fishing new title sponsor of 2015 CCA Red Trout Catch & Release Tournament

CRISFIELD — The Coastal Conservation Association Maryland (CCA MD) has announced an agreement whereby Huk Performance Fishing Gear will become the title sponsor of the 2015 Huk Performance Fishing-CCA Red Trout Catch & Release Tournament on Sept. 18-20 in Crisfield. It will join the existing sponsors of the tournament.

The tournament plays host to many of the Chesapeake region’s light tackle, fly, and kayak anglers, and this year a live bait category has been added. The tournament promotes sustainable, catch and release fishing methods where anglers photograph their catch for digital submittals in lieu of a weigh in.

“We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Huk Gear at one of the most exciting and challenging light tackle tournaments on the Chesapeake,” said Tony Friedrich, CCA MD executive director. “Huk Gear has proven to be an incredible sponsor of the tournament by raising its standard of excellence while supporting a sustainable use of our marine resources.”

The Red Trout tournament was founded in 2013 to draw attention to the value of redfish and speckled trout that have been making a comeback in the Chesapeake Bay during the past four years.

“This tournament has really become one of CCA Maryland’s signature events to help spread the message to our fellow anglers about what CCA Maryland is doing for them,” said Friedrich. “I’m proud to have Huk Performance Fishing supporting us in our conservation efforts.”

This year’s Huk Performance Fishing-CCA Red Trout Catch & Release Tournament will be hosted by Somers Cove Marina. More information can be obtained on the CCA MD website, www.ccamd.org, or by contacting Rick Elyar, tournament coordinator, 410-977-3782.
