Thanksgiving meals, services set in Somerset County

SOMERSET COUNTY — As the Thanksgiving season nears, several Somerset County churches are doing their part to ensure everyone has at least one traditional meal to enjoy. There are also special services upcoming as well.

In Marion Station, Marion Baptist Church will hold its annual Community Thanksgiving dinner at the church on Saturday, Nov. 22 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Eat in or carry out, or call for delivery at 410-623-3306 and provide the number of dinners requested along with name and address.

In Princess Anne, the Little Soup Kitchen of St. Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church will hold its annual community Thanksgiving dinner also on Saturday, Nov. 22 at the Henson Center at UMES. Up to 1,000 meals for the elderly, shut-ins and those in need will be served or delivered. For more information contact Delores Cottman at 410-651-3710.

The Little Soup Kitchen has a weekly ministry on Tuesdays at the parish house of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Princess Anne.

On Sunday, Nov. 23 in Crisfield, Immanuel United Methodist Church, 206 W. Main Street, will hold its third annual Thanksgiving dinner immediately following the 11 a.m. service. The menu includes roast turkey and stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, seasoned green beans. Sides and desserts are welcome, the Rev. Paul Holland is pastor.

On Thanksgiving Day, Crisfield’s First Baptist Church is again accepting Thanksgiving Day deliveries for Thursday, Nov. 27 from those in need or shut-ins. This must be reserved ahead by calling the church at 410-968-0409.

Thanksgiving week services

Upcoming are two special services in Princess Anne and one in Crisfield. On Monday, Nov. 24 the Princess Anne Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service will be held at Antioch United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. The Rev. Joni Kindell will be the preacher. She is with East Side Missions Temple of God Ministries, which is located in Venton in the former home of Old Monie Episcopal Church.

The offering will be split between the Seton Center and the Somerset County Committee for the Homeless. The public is invited to attend.

On Thanksgiving Day, join the members of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church for mass at 10 a.m. Fr. John Laws is rector and the church is on Church and Washington streets.

In Crisfield, the Crisfield Area Ministerial Association will hold its Community Thanksgiving Service on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 7 p.m. at Faith Fellowship Assembly of God, 26950 Plantation Road. The Rev. Matthew Boldizsar is host pastor and message will be delivered by Pastor Charles Bagley of Real Deal Baptist Church in Westover.

A free will offering to include non-perishable food items will be accepted.
